Merdzavan Cognac Factory
The production of Merdzavan Cognac Factory is made with the inspiration and creative energy of the masters, and owes much to the peculiar climate of the sun-filled Ararat valley. The plant owns spacious vineyards and fruit gardens of apricot, peach, plum and mulberry, located in the foothills of Ashtarak, at an altitude of 950-1400 m above sea level, which is a key factor in obtaining high-quality harvest.

HISTORY

The Merdzavan Cognac Factory was founded in the spring of 1963 by the Gardening, Fruit Growing and Winemaking Scientific Research Institute.

The plant was given a new breath in April 2010: the buildings were renovated, and the equipment was upgraded. A workshop for processing grapes, fruits and berries was also built, as well as a new production shop for fermentation and distillation with modern filtering equipment (repeated filtration type), which are indispensable for obtaining high-quality cognac spirit.

At the factory, the filtered high-quality young cognac spirit is placed in oak barrels for aging (storage) and in enameled vessels treated with special technology in the presence of oak wood.

The new shop for thermal processing (warm and cold) is equipped with powerful Italian refrigerators, which can reduce the temperature of the raw materials to 14°C during the technological process, thereby giving the production a peculiar quality. A modern bottling plant has also been built, equipped with the latest Italian Cavagnino bottling line, which provides the correspondence of products to international standards.
